4 Chair Discipling: MISSION – What Jesus Call Us to Do
Where It All Begins
-1 John 2.6-
[1 JOHN 2.1-6] - My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 2 He himself is the sacrifice that atones for our sins—and not only our sins but the sins of all the world. 3 And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments. 4 If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. 5 But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him. 6 Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Jesus did.
We’re loving God well when we are anchored in the truth that to walk like Christ is to be in Christ and know Christ. And when we are in this position it frees us up to love others well.
CCC’s Vision: to be a family of love and truth.
IF WE DON'T MAKE DISCIPLES NOTHING ELSE WE DO MATTERS
GOD CELEBRATES (actually rejoices) YOU GROWING UP (and out) IN CHRIST
Jesus modeled a very simple [though not easy] pattern every Christian can [must] imitate. Jesus’ disciple making strategy follows 4 challenges He posed to His followers: come and see, follow me, follow me and I will make you fishers of men, and go and bear fruit. With this simple pattern [model] Jesus led His disciples through a natural growth process from infants, to children, to young men, and to spiritual fathers.

The MESSAGE of Jesus
The METHODS of Jesus
Commitment to relational ministry
Investment in a few
Priority of prayer
Profound love for sinners
Strategic balance of effort
The MODEL of Jesus
Why do we tend to miss it?
We fail to see the STRATEGY
We fail to see the value of a CHRONOLOGICAL look at Jesus’ life/ministry
[LUKE 1.1-4] - Many people have set out to write accounts about the events that have been fulfilled among us. 2 They used the eyewitness reports circulating among us from the early disciples. 3 Having carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I also have decided to write an accurate account for you, most honorable Theophilus, 4 so you can be certain of the truth of everything you were taught.
We assume that we CAN’T DO WHAT JESUS DOES
[JOHN 14.12] - 12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father.
HEALTHY THINGS GROW-GROWTH IS SIMPLY LIVING MORE LIKE JESUS
THE CHURCH IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO GROW - learning to accept people who are different from you | learning from godly people around you | by being equipped to grow in your service and ministry
Is it possible to truly know God and have no life change?
Study the Bible to know about God. Obey the Bible to really know God.
